Meet the Pig
Pigs are one of the most intelligent domesticated animals on the planet — often ranked smarter than dogs and even some primates! They're quick learners, capable of solving puzzles, understanding cause and effect, and even recognizing themselves in mirrors. Pigs can learn their names, respond to commands, and remember complex routes and routines for years.
Beyond their brainpower, pigs are deeply social creatures. In the wild, they live in tight-knit family groups called sounders, communicating with each other through more than 20 distinct vocalizations — from happy grunts to warning squeals. They form strong bonds, show empathy toward one another, and even develop distinct personalities, just like Lulu and Piggy Boba!
Contrary to their muddy reputation, pigs are actually quite clean animals. They wallow in mud not because they're dirty, but because they can't sweat — the mud helps keep them cool and protects their sensitive skin from sunburn and pests. Given the choice, pigs will keep their sleeping and eating areas completely separate from where they go to the bathroom.
Pigs also have an incredible sense of smell, thanks to their versatile snouts, which they use to root around in search of food, sniff out truffles, and even detect certain diseases. With their curly tails, expressive eyes, and endless curiosity, it's no wonder pigs have captured the hearts of animal lovers everywhere!
